FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a doctors referral required for appointments?

You do not need a doctor’s referral or imaging to begin physiotherapy at our clinic. Our registered physiotherapists are trained to assess and diagnose musculoskeletal conditions independently and can start your treatment right away. If you’ve already had imaging (such as an X-ray, MRI, or CT scan), we encourage you to forward those results to our clinic, as they can help guide and personalize your treatment plan. Similarly, if you’ve received a referral from your doctor or another healthcare provider, please bring it with you—while it’s not required, it can provide useful context for your care.

If you plan to submit your treatment for insurance coverage, your provider may request a doctor’s referral as part of their reimbursement requirements.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Your physiotherapist will complete an assessment and create a treatment plan tailored to you. Treatment is included in this first visit.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated (e.g., shorts for lower body injuries, a tank top for shoulder or upper back issues). Gowns are available should you prefer.

Do you offer direct billing?

We offer direct billing to a select number of insurance providers for your convenience. Coverage varies by plan, and it is your responsibility to understand your individual insurance benefits, including eligibility, coverage limits, and any required co-payments. Please note that direct billing is not a guarantee of payment. Any portion not covered or any rejected or unpaid claims are your responsibility and must be paid in full.

A detailed receipt is provided for all payments, containing the information required to self-submit a claim to your extended health benefits provider for reimbursement.

If you have any questions about your coverage or what information your insurer requires, we recommend contacting them directly prior to your appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Dale Charles Physiotherapy Group has a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we ask that you call your clinic location prior to the 24 hours leading up to the appointment. Fees for late cancellations and missed appointments apply, and must be paid before scheduling additional appointments.
