About Clinical Pilates

Clinical Pilates is a therapeutic exercise approach used by physiotherapists to improve posture, core strength, flexibility, and movement control. It’s often incorporated into rehabilitation after injury or surgery and can be an excellent method for preventing future injuries.

At Dale Charles Physiotherapy, Clinical Pilates principles may be integrated into your physiotherapy treatment plan as part of a customized approach to help you move better, recover faster, and build long-term strength and stability.

Unlike general Pilates classes, Clinical Pilates exercises are tailored and prescribed by your physiotherapist following a detailed clinical assessment. They are designed to address your specific movement patterns, goals, and any physical limitations within a safe, supervised rehabilitation setting.

Who It's For / What to Expect

Clinical Pilates may benefit a wide range of individuals — from people recovering from injury or surgery, to office workers with postural strain, older adults looking to improve balance and strength, and athletes wanting to enhance movement control and stability. It is also commonly used for individuals managing persistent back or neck pain, those returning to activity after time away, or anyone looking to move more efficiently and confidently in daily life.

Your physiotherapist will begin with a detailed assessment to understand your movement patterns, goals, and any physical limitations. From there, Clinical Pilates-based exercises may be included in your treatment plan—either as part of your in-clinic sessions or as customized exercises to continue at home.

Benefits May Include:

  • Improved core strength and postural control
