Radial (extracorporeal) Shock Wave Therapy (SWT)
Non-Invasive Treatment for Chronic Pain and Soft Tissue Injuries
About Shock Wave Therapy
Radial Shock Wave Therapy (rSWT) is an evidence-based, non-invasive treatment used to stimulate healing in chronic soft tissue conditions. This modality uses high-energy acoustic waves to promote blood flow, break down scar tissue, and accelerate the body’s natural repair processes—especially in areas that have been slow to heal.
Shock Wave Therapy is a specific intervention suitable to certain conditions; appropriate use of SWT begins with a detailed clinical assessment and review of history.
Who It's For / What to Expect
Radial Shock Wave Therapy is delivered using a handheld device that applies targeted pressure pulses to the affected area. SWT treatment is guided by research-based protocols, clinical presentation and experience. Sessions are typically brief (5–10 minutes) and may cause mild discomfort during treatment. Most conditions require a series of treatments for optimal results. rSWT is always administered by trained physiotherapists as part of a comprehensive rehab plan that may include manual therapy, exercise, and education.
